After two wins in succession, a determined opponent and atrocious conditions in Auckland combined to inflict a loss on the Newtown Jets who were beaten 20-18 by the Warriors last Saturday.
Torrential rain restricted the Jets and their attacking options, however the final margin of two points indicated they still had every opportunity to claim a win, only to come up just short.
The Jets get their chance to bounce back this weekend when they return home to Henson Park to tackle traditional rivals the North Sydney Bears in a match played for the Frank Hyde Shield.
With the two teams on eight competition points and sitting in seventh and eighth places on the Intrust Super Premiership ladder, the game shapes as a crucial one for both clubs.
Unfortunately for the Jets leading try-scorer Aaron Gray is sidelined with a leg injury.
