Injury update - Ramien suffers facial fracture

Sharks centre Jesse Ramien has suffered a fractured eye-socket and will be sidelined for between four and six weeks.

The injury occurred in the 26th minute of the match on Friday night, leaving an already depleted Sharks outfit without another of their backline stars.

The injury continues a tough run of late for the Cronulla club, with Ramien to join the likes of Braden Hamlin-Uele, Ronaldo Mulitalo, Sione Katoa and Royce Hunt amongst those out of action for an extended period of time.

Matt Moylan returned last week after missing two weeks with a quad strain, while Ramien himself was ruled out of the round eight match in Melbourne with a glute issue before getting back on the field for the Panthers game.

Of the others, Hunt is continuing his rehab from the knee injury suffered at the back end of last season, while outside backs Katoa, Mulitalo and development list player Jackson Ferris are edging closer to a return.

In some positive news, Andrew Fifita becomes available for selection for this week’s Magic Round match in Brisbane after serving a four-match suspension, however Siosifa Talakia still has two matches to serve after being outed for four weeks for a shoulder charge.

Talakai can return for the Sharks game against the Titans in Coffs Harbour in round 12.

See below the latest injury and suspension update.

Braden Hamlin-Uele – syndesmosis/ankle – round 16
Jesse Ramien – eye socket – round 14/15
Royce Hunt = knee – tbc
Sione Katoa – knee – round 12
Ronaldo Mulitalo – knee – round 13
Jackson Ferris – ankle – round 12
Siosifa Talakai – suspended – round 12
