The NRLW Sharks embraced a 3-day, 2-night camp at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen, which was all about connection, setting the tone for their 2026 season and embracing a special theme for the year ahead.
Over the first two days the girls took part in on-field, gym, and pool training sessions, before the final day on Sunday focused on team-building and connection activities.
An Amazing Race-style challenge was a highlight, an activity which saw the squad split into four groups, competing at different stations around the camp to accumulate points, with the highest-scoring team taking the win. Team Blue led by Sharks NRLW skipper Tiana Penitani emerged as the winners.
That evening, the squad headed to a commercial kitchen just 15 minutes from camp, where they took part in a cooking session with Sharks dietitian, Caitlin Edmonds, and her interns. In what turned into a fantastic evening, the girls learnt more about nutrition and what a well-balanced meal looks like in a fun and interactive environment.
While some displayed more advanced cooking skills than others, Caitlin refused to ‘out’ any of those to struggle somewhat, expressing that “everyone was actually great.”
Overall, the camp was hailed as a huge success, with the Sharks girls leaving motivated and with a feeling of connection, ready to tackle the 2026 season together head-on.
The Sharks open the NRLW season when they host the Newcastle Knights at Ocean Protect Stadium on Thursday, July 2, kicking off at 7.45pm.
