Pilot Medical Update – Brailey-McInnes

Blayke Brailey’s streak of 139 consecutive NRL matches will come to end following a failed head injury assessment in the game against Souths last weekend.

Brailey came from the field late in the Sharks loss to the Rabbitoh’s and in failing his HIA, under NRL concussion protocols will now be forced to accept the mandatory 11-day standdown.

Showing no ill effects soon after the incident, and following the mandated NRL recovery process, the Sharks are confident Brailey will be fit and available for their next match, a round 13 game against the Sea Eagles.

Also coming from last Saturday night’s match at Accor Stadium, Cam McInnes suffered a lateral ankle sprain, with the Sharks co-captain managing to finish the game.

Upon further assessment, the issue has ruled McInnes out of Friday’s match at Suncorp, however he is expected to be available following the Sharks’ round 12 bye.

In positive injury news, Ronaldo Mulitalo is set to return to the field less than eight months since rupturing his ACL while representing New Zealand in an international match last October. Mulitalo’s ahead of schedule recovery and return is testament to his dedication to the rehabilitation process and to the work of the Sharks medical team.

Also named to play on Friday is Mulitalo’s backline partner Jesse Ramien, who sustained a knee injury in round five in a game against the Warriors.

Jayden Berrell has been selected to take the place of Brailey, while Jess Colquhoun returns to the starting side at lock.
