After dropping a heart breaker to Souths last Sunday, the Newtown Jets will be desperate to get their season on track when they face the Wentworthville Magpies at Ringrose Park this weekend.
In their most recent contest the Jets were beaten 28-26 by the Rabbitohs on what was literally the last play of the game, resigning Newtown to three straight losses to start their season and increasing the importance of the match against the Magpies on Sunday.
Despite the loss, the performance against the Bunnies was perhaps the Jets best of the 2019 season so far after they battled back from a 10-point second half deficit, went ahead by two, only to give up the match-winning Souths try with the full-time siren sounding in the background.
The Jets will again be bolstered by the inclusion of a number of Sharks contracted players, with Will Kennedy, Kyle Flanagan, Aaron Gray and Billy Magoulias all performing strongly in the loss to Souths at their last start.
The Jets v Magpies game is scheduled for a 3.00pm kick-off at Ringrose Park on Sunday.
