A big weekend of junior league action brought down the curtain on the 2018 season with Grand Finals run and won across three days at three different local venues.
Southern Cross Group Stadium hosted matches on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, with matches also played at Captain Cook Oval and the Sharks Academy Fields at Cronulla High School.
De La Salle caused a minor upset in claiming the Open Age Gold title in beating the Engadine Dragons 20-8 in the final game of the weekend.
Engadine weren't the only favoured team beaten at the home of the Sharks on Sunday, with all six teams who qualified first into the Grand Finals going down in their respective competition deciders.
The 13 Gold match on Saturday between Gymea and De La Salle was a classic, first going to extra time, then Golden Point and when the two sides still couldn't be separated, they were declared joint premiers.
In the open women's touch final, Taren Point snatched a win in Gold Point and on Saturday in the 10A's it only took one try, and it came in the last minute of the contest for De La to edge out the Engadine Dragons.
Spoiling the party for the locals, four out of district teams in Holy Cross Ryde, Maroubra, Moorebank and Bondi took away premierships in combined competition Grand Finals at Southern Cross Group Stadium and away from the local area, De La Salle 15 Golds smashed Concord Burwood 40-12 in their Grand Final at Leichhardt Oval.
It was also a big weekend for the De La Salle club, who won 11 of the 14 Grand Finals they contested.
