The Rugby League community will come together this ANZAC Day Round (Round 8) to honour the sacrifices made by thousands of service men and women to protect Australia, New Zealand and countries around the world.
Partnering with Returned Services League (RSL), the Australian War Memorial and both the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces, the NRL is providing the Rugby League family many opportunities to pause and remember those who fought for the Australia that we know and love.
Clubs, players and fans will also commemorate the Kokoda Campaign that occurred across the Territory of Papua, 75 years ago.
Before the Cronulla Sharks take on the Gold Coast Titans this Saturday night, an ANZAC ceremony will take place on the field at Southern Cross Group Stadium.
The ceremony will include the Ode, the Last Post, a moment of silence, Rouse and the National Anthems of both Australia and New Zealand.
Current members of the Australian Defence Force wishing to attend matches throughout the NRL’s ANZAC Day Round will receive special ticket offers. Formal identification will need to be provided to redeem these offers.
RSL will be present at each of the Round 8 clashes, with voleunteers collecting funds for the ANZAC Appeal to support members, past and present, of the Australian and allied defence forces.
Cronulla Sharks players will pay their respects at various ANZAC Day services across Sydney next Tuesday, April 25
