Sharks backrower Wade Graham has been charged by the match review committee for a high tackle on Cowboys half back Johnathan Thurston.

Graham was charged with a grade one careless tackle and with carry-over points and loading from a previous incident will miss out on making his State of Origin debut should he challenge and be found guilty.

With 50 per cent loading from a prior similar offense the charge attracted 84 points, plus 33 carry-overs for an early plea, meaning the 117 point total will see him miss one match.

Should he challenge and be found guilty, the 145 point penalty would see Graham miss Origin game 2 and amass 45 carry-over points.

In camp with the NSW Origin team, Graham still boarded the plane to Coffs Harbour with the Blues early today before he will potentially return to fight the charge at a judiciary hearing later in the week.

Graham and the Sharks have until midday tomorrow to enter a plea.
