After a successful road trip to Cessnock last weekend the Newtown Jets face another challenging away game in round three when they take on the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland on Sunday.

The Jets broke an eight-year winless streak in games played against the Knights away from their Henson Park home base with a 28-20 victory in round two, leaving them undefeated after two rounds following their drawn result against the Bulldogs in the season-opener.

The Warriors have one win and one loss following the opening two weeks of the Intrust Super Premiership season.

The Jets dominated for much of the match against the Knights only to have their opponents score three tries in the final 15 minutes, with Coach Greg Matterson sure to be stressing the importance of playing out the full 80-minutes, starting with the game in New Zealand on Sunday.

Newtown have again named a large contingent of Sharks contracted players, however Matt McIlwrick is missing from the squad after suffering a facial injury in the win over Newcastle. His place is taken by the very reliable Newtown utility Kurt Kara.

The match is set down for a 1.45pm kick-off (Local NZ time) at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland and will be the curtain-raiser for the Storm-Warriors NRL clash later that afternoon.

The Newtown team list is following;
