Testament to the work done by the coaching, training and medical staff, added to a little luck along the way, the Sharks will head into round one with a full complement of players available.

With all players having recovered from any off-season injury concerns, all 30 full-time Sharks NRL squad members have been named to turn out in either Townsville against the Cowboys or at Henson Park for the opening game of the Intrust Super Premiership where the Jets tackle the Canterbury Bulldogs.

The embarrassment of riches has caused some selection headaches for NRL Head Coach Shane Flanagan, who has named 19-players for the game in Townsville, with Gerard Beale and Joseph Paulo in jersey’s 18 and 19 respectively on an extended bench.

The team trained strongly again on Wednesday morning, reporting no players in doubt for the weekend’s match against North Queensland.

Mitch Brown, chosen on the wing for the Jets season-opener, has recovered from a rib fracture and is expected to be fit to play.

After a morning field session on Wednesday the Sharks NRL squad had weights in the afternoon, with Thursday a rest day.

The Sharks travel to North Queensland on Friday and will have their captain’s run in Townsville later that afternoon, ahead of the round one match on Saturday. Kick off for the NRL game will be 6.30pm (7.30pm Sydney time).

As for those Sharks assigned to the Jets for this week, they have Wednesday off, a Thursday night training session at Henson Park and a game against the Canterbury Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon, that match getting underway at 3.00pm.
