The damage was extensive but relief and recovery efforts were on in earnest at Kurnell today following the devastating storm that hit the area last Wednesday.

The destruction caused by the 213kph winds was evident as tarpaulins covered roofs and trees were destroyed with branches strewn across front yards and streets. SES and emergency services personnel were in attendance in large numbers, working hard to repair some of the damage as they attempted to return the Shire suburb to some sort of normality.

In assisting with the relief efforts, the Sharks loaded up the new Leagues Club courtesy bus and delivered donated sausages, fruit and vegetables, drinks, rolls and loaves of bread to Marton Hall and the Talotta Pizzeria, where lunch was being prepared for residents and the emergency service workers.

Sharks TV followed the Leagues Club courtesy bus around the streets of Kurnell in capturing some images of the property damage, while also talking to a local resident, an SES crew leader and Tony from Talotta’s who was hard at it feeding the hungry workers.

In evidence was a tremendous sense of community spirit as local Kurnell residents and businesses in the Sutherland Shire banded together, with the Sharks proud to be able to do their bit in lending their support to some neighbours in need.
