Lapses in concentration and composure cost the NYC Sharks dearly in what turned out to be a narrow loss to the Raiders at their last start, with a win this weekend now imperative if they hope to play finals football come September.

The Sharks came home strongly against Canberra but it was all too late as time ran out on their charge, however there were enough good moments to suggest they can mount a challenge on Sunday against a Bulldogs team similarly desperate for the two competition points.

Despite being in 13th position the Sharks are just three points adrift of the top eight, while their opponents this week are sit on 18, one point and three places ahead, with the winner set to emerge still having a sniff of a finals berth.

Last week the young Sharks debuted two more players in the Holden Cup in Jaiden Brown and Jaimin Jolliffe, with the pair again selected in the squad for the game on Sunday.

Also in the Sharks squad for the match are Curtis Scott, Keenan Yorston, Jesse Savage and Billy Magoulias from the successful 2015 SG Ball squad.

The kick-off time for the Sharks v Bulldogs Holden Cup game is 1.45pm (not earlier as previously advertised), with the match to be played at Belmore Sports Ground, the spiritual home of the Canterbury-Bankstown club.
