Sharks skipper Paul Gallen will tonight undergo scans to determine the extent of a rib injury suffered in the NSW victory over Queensland in State of Origin game two last night.

Gallen left the field in the first half of the match at the MCG, only to bravely return after the break, with his problem identified as rib catilage damage.

"I'm not sure what to make of it at this stage, I've never had rib catilage problems before," Gallen said. "I'll have the scans tonight but it will be a matter of how much pain I can put up with."

Due to appear on the Footy Show later tonight, Gallen will take part in the opening segment and then go from Channel Nine's Artarmon Studios to the premises of the Sharks new major sponsor Southern Radiology to undergo the scan.

The scan results and his likely status for the Sharks on Sunday are not likely to be known until Gallen meets with Club medical staff sometime tomorrow.
