No April Fool’s joke
The move of Jack Bird to five eighth and Valentine Holmes to fullback was no April Fool’s joke for Sharks coach Shane Flanagan, with the pair training strongly today in their new positions.

The two young guns were the major positive to come from the disappointing loss to the Titans, with Bird’s aggressive play in the centres and the elusive ball running of Holmes on kick returns and in general play, a highlight on the night.

Holmes also managed two tries in the Titans loss.

The challenge however will be a considerable one when the pair line up against the formidable Roosters side on Sunday afternoon.

The match on Sunday kicks off at 4.00pm, with those not traveling to Allianz invited to watch the game ‘live and loud’ in the Locker Room Sports Bar in Sharkies Leagues Club.

Another 'Heighno' moment
Last week we celebrated the Chris Heighington milestone of 250 NRL games.

Heighington was presented his jersey before the Titans match by Australian and former Tigers coach Tim Sheens, who described the Sharks lock as one of the games most professional players.

Unfortunately the Sharks were unable to come away with a win on the night to cap off Heighno's night of celebrations.

Well this weekend he notches another milestone of sorts, with Heighington to play his 50th Sharks NRL game.

Let's hope a win this weekend gives him more reason to celebrate.

Tomorrow, April 2, marks 48 years to the day since the Sharks played their first ever game in the then NSWRL First Grade competition, coincidently against the Sydney Roosters.

A couple of members of that 1967 will be at training Thursday afternoon to reminisce with players from the current Sharks outfit, giving some encouragement and a few words of wisdom which will hopefully inspire the team to their first win of the 2015 season.

Stay tuned to the Sharks website tomorrow for an extensive coverage of their visit.
