Parramattta legend and NRL Ambassador Nathan Hindmarsh, along with Sharks NRL squad members Ricky Leutele and Anthony Moratis were at The Ridge Sporting Complex in Barden Ridge earlier this week in support of Backyard League, a rugby league participation initiative driven by ARL Game Development.
The five week program, which brought together kids from the junior league, Active After School Communities (AASC) and was supported by the Sutherland Shire Council, saw NRL Game Development personnel team with Hindmarsh and the two Sharks players in delivering a fun rugby league based program.
In all 20 children participated, including 2 girls, while the parents were encouraged to take part in some of the games and activities.
The Sutherland JRLFC also supported the program and provided registration information to those involved who were not currently playing junior league, while the during the five weeks of the program the parents heard from a dietician, a junior league delegate and received a voucher from Rebel Sport for being a part of Backyard League.
Each participant received a t-shirt, drink bottle and a football.
