Pilot Medical Update – Royce Hunt

Sharks prop Royce Hunt will be sidelined for an extended period after suffering an ankle injury late in his teams’ loss to the Storm on Sunday.

Brought down awkwardly in a tackle by Melbourne opponent Christian Welch in the 76th minute of the match, an incident which later attracted the attention of the match review committee, Hunt completely ruptured his syndesmosis and will undergo surgery tomorrow.

In a blow to both Hunt and to the Sharks, the recovery period and return to field timeline is expected to be around six to seven weeks.

Welsh faces a one or two week suspension after being charged by the match review.

Other than the bumps and bruises associated with a physical contest in Melbourne, no other significant injuries were reported from Sunday’s game, with Cameron McInnes coming through the match with no issues after returning following two games and three weeks out of action.

This Sharks medical update is brought to you by Pilot, Australia’s biggest men’s healthcare startup.
