Nicho a Ken Stephen Finalist

On the back of Ronaldo Mulitalo winning the NRL’s most prestigious community prize, the Ken Stephen Medal in 2021, Nicho Hynes has been named a Finalist for this year’s award, putting the Sharks in the frame to take out the award in consecutive years.

Hynes was revealed alongside North Queensland's Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Cody Walker from Souths and Rooster Angus Crichton in the last four contenders for the Ken Stephen at the Dally M Medal night held at Randwick Racecourse tonight.

The inclusion of Hynes in the top four came as a result of the Sharks submission and the community work he carried out in 2022, while Hynes also won the Fan Favourite vote.

As a result of leading the Fan Favourite vote, Hynes was awarded $4,500 for his junior club, the Umina Bunnies.

“After Ronaldo took out the award last year, added to Nicho being named in the top four this year, it solidifies our place as a club leading the way in community engagement and involvement,” Sharks Head of Community & Government Relations Jessica Macartney said.

The winner of the Ken Stephen Medal will be announced at Sunday’s NRL Grand Final.
