In a game with the Frank Hyde Cup up for grabs, a trophy bearing the name of the famous former broadcaster and first grade player, the first-placed Newtown Jets tackle traditional rivals the North Sydney Bears in a round 19 match to be played at Henson Park on Saturday.
The Jets moved to the top of the ladder due to a Panthers defeat and win of their own over the Parramatta Eels, with the match against the fourth-placed Bears this weekend an opportunity to consolidate their position on top of the KOE NSW Cup ladder with the Finals fast approaching.
Jets coach Greg Matterson has been getting outstanding service from the likes of fullback Kade Dykes, hooker Jayden Berrell and front rower Tom Hazelton, the trio instrumental in the victory over the Eels, and he will be looking for more of the same in Saturday’s match.
The two teams have met once already in 2022, the Jets winning a high scoring affair by 40-28 back in round nine.
