Sharks women beaten by the Bears

The Harvey Norman Women's Premiership Sharks have come up just short against the competition leading Bears, going down by 10-6 in their round 8 clash at PointsBet Stadium on Saturday.

In a match which showed the Sharks girls can certainly compete with the leading contenders, the teams were level at 4-apiece at half time, with a Bears try 10 minutes after the break ultimately deciding the result.

Despite the loss, Sharks coach Tony Herman, fielding a depleted line-up, was very proud of the effort against a North Sydney team boasting four Kiwi internationals.

"It was a tough game of footy, we had 10 starting players out, but I thought it was an awesome effort," Herman said.

"We were right in it, up until 10 seconds from the end. All the girls stood up, it was the next girl up mentality for us, and I thought the girls were incredible," he added.

Tegan Berry was the Sharks try scorer, with the Cronulla side to now regroup due to the week off and the rep round before preparing for the upcoming finals series.

The Sharks sit in third place on the HNWP ladder after the eight rounds of the competition.
