It took them a while to fully assert their authority, however kicking into gear late in the match it was a sixth win from seven start for the Newtown Jets as they scored a 34-16 win over the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles.
The Jets created plenty of chances but failed to capitalize on their dominance for three quarters of the game, before an avalanche of tries secured the win and consolidated their place towards the top of the Knock On Effect NSW Cup ladder.
The return of Jayden Berrell provided a boost for the Newtown side, the Sharks-contracted hooker having an involvement in all six of his teams tries.
This week the challenge steps up a notch for the Jets who play Penrith in a clash between the first and second-placed teams in the KOE NSW Cup.
Both the Jets and Panthers have six wins and just one loss, with the Penrith side currently in top spot due to a superior for-and-against.
The Jets v Panthers game is scheduled for a 3.00pm kick off at the St Mary’s Leagues Stadium, with the match to be live streamed on NSWRL TV.
