Five Sharks to start for Indigenous All-Stars

It might not be the way it was envisaged however Sharks fans may get a first look at the potential halves pairing for 2022 at the Indigenous v Maori All Stars clash at CommBank Stadium on Saturday.

Five Sharks players have been included in the Indigenous All Stars side, amongst them Will Kennedy at the fullback, Jesse Ramien in the centres and Andrew Fifita the front row.

But it might be the combination of Nicho Hynes and Braydon Trindall in the halves for the Indigenous that could create the most interest.

The pair have trained together throughout the pre-season at the Sharks and along with Matt Moylan and Luke Metcalf, will battle it out for the number six and seven jerseys in the lead up to the round one match against the Raiders.

The two halves aside, all the Sharks in the Indigenous squad will be keen to score a victory and earn bragging rights over clubmates Briton Nikora and Royce Hunt who are named to represent the Maori in the annual All Stars clash.

Nikora will start in the second row, with Hunt to come into the game from the interchange bench.

Both squads have engaged in a series of cultural activities throughout the week in the lead up to the game which is scheduled to get underway at 8.10pm.

The Sharks also enjoy a strong representation in the Women’s All Stars match, with Quincy Dodd the hooker for the Indigenous All Stars, while Corban Baxter and Kennedy Cherrington are in the run on team for the Māori side.

The Women’s All Stars match kicks off at 5.20pm, also at CommBank Stadium, with both matches to be televised live on Fox Sports, as well as on Nine Gem (Women’s All Stars) and Channel 9 (Men’s All Stars).
