A solid first half was followed by a disappointing second as the Sharks were overrun by the Storm last Friday night.
Up 8-6 at the break, the loss of Braden Hamlin-Uele in the first tackle of the second period after he had arguably been one of the Sharks best in the opening stanza certainly didn’t help, and from there it was an avalanche of points for the Storm in what was a disappointing 40-minutes for the Cronulla side.
However despite the loss, there were a few willing performers in a beaten Sharks side as they attempted to stem the flow.
Forwards Briton Nikora, Aiden Tolman and Toby Rudolf led the defensive performance, Nikora topping the tackle count with 38, while Tolman made 36 with no misses on the night.
Nikora also managed a smart first half try, running a brave inside line off a short pass from Shaun Johnson before outpacing the defence in a 25-metre dash to the try line.
In the unfamiliar position of centre Teig Wilton topped the Sharks run metres with 147, marginally ahead of fullback Will Kennedy and winger Connor Tracey, the pair chalking up 144 metres in the game, with Tracey also scoring a try and having two disallowed by the match officials.
In all it was a disappointing night, with the Sharks looking to regroup and go again this Friday when they travel to Penrith to tackle the ladder-leading Panthers.
But before that, cast your minds back to last weekend and let us know who you thought was the Sharks best in the loss to the Storm.
