Classic Clash - Team List Tuesday

To fill the void left by the suspension of the 2020 NRL season and with the Sharks scheduled to tackle the Roosters on Saturday night, we take a look back at a Classic Clash from days gone by.

In round 17 of the 2017 season the Sharks travelled to Gosford and the Central Coast Stadium to take on a Roosters team flying high and on track to finish the season in the top four.

As defending premiers and also fighting for a place in the top four with the 2017 season approaching the business end, the game was a crucial one for the Cronulla side.

In naming his 21-man squad on Tuesday afternoon, Sharks coach Shane Flanagan was forced to find a replacement for injured hooker Jayden Brailey, with back up Daniel Mortimer out of the picture due to taking up an opportunity to join UK SuperLeague team Leigh mid-season.

Fa’amanu Brown came into the side at hooker, with youngster Jesse Ramien, yet to make his NRL debut, an interesting name on an extended bench.

Other than Brown in for Brailey, who suffered a broken jaw in a disappointing loss to the Sea Eagles the previous Sunday, the Sharks team was intact.

Stay tuned to the Sharks website for the Classic Clash match preview on Friday, ahead of a full replay of the Sharks v Roosters, from round 17, 2017, on Saturday night.
