The Jersey Flegg Sharks showed signs of improvement, while climbing back into first position on the competition ladder, when they played out a draw against Souths last Saturday.

On the back of three straight losses, the Sharks battled bravely to overcome a 16-0 deficit to almost snatch a win, however despite only claiming the one point, coach Daniel Holdsworth would have been pleased in the resilience shown by his young squad.

This week the challenge will also be a significant one for the Sharks 20’s, up against a Penrith side also travelling near the top of the Flegg table.

The two teams have already met once this year and on that occasion the Penrith team inflicted a heavy 50-10 defeat on the Sharks for what was the Cornulla side’s only loss through the opening 15 rounds of the competition.

The game on Friday night will be the first of three at Panthers Stadium with a Canterbury Cup match between the Jets and Penrith, then the NRL clash between the Sharks and Panthers to follow.

Kick-off for the Jersey Flegg will be at 4.00pm.
