With only four rounds to go Friday night almost becomes do or die for the Newtown Jets if they hope to make the Canterbury Cup Finals.
A disappointing loss to Blacktown Workers, in a match where at one stage they held a 20-point lead, sees the Jets on the edge of the top eight and needing wins in their remaining games to qualify for the upcoming playoffs.
Their first assignment is a game against the Panthers, a team sitting third on the Canterbury Cup ladder and set to present a formidable challenge on Friday night.
The Jets line up will be somewhat dictated by the players coming back into the team from the Sharks top-30 list, however one significant omission will be one of their more consistent performers in front rower Daniel Vasquez who fractured a cheekbone in the game last weekend.
The Jets v Penrith Canterbury Cup clash is the second of three games at Panthers Stadium on Friday night, kicking off at 5.40pm. The game will be preceded by a Jersey Flegg game, with the Sharks v Panthers NRL match to follow.
