Shane Flanagan has named his 21-man squad ahead of the Thursday night’s season opener against the Brisbane Broncos.

The side will see two players make their Sharks debut in Jayden Brailey and Edrick Lee.

Brailey, a local junior and former Sharks NYC captain who featured in the Sharks World Club Challenge match against the Wigan Warriors will get first shot at the hooking role vacated by Michael Ennis at the conclusion of season 2016.

Edrick Lee on the other hand was a late inclusion to Shane Flanagan’s 2017 squad, having signed from the Canberra Raiders only last week.

The winger who has played 70 NRL matches will be a valuable asset to the Sharks backline and will offer height on the right wing.

Valentine Holmes has been named in the 21-man squad and will potentially line up come kick off on Thursday evening as he undergoes constant medical observation.

Gerard Beale will play in the fullback position vacated by Holmes, while Sosaia Feki will return from a knee injury to take his place on the left wing.
