Valentine Holmes has been a point scoring machine since debuting for the Sharks and in turn receives a nomination for Winger in our Team of the Half Century.
The product from Townsville, Holmes moved to the Sharks in 2013 and progressed through the Sharks highly acclaimed Junior Rep program making his mark on opposition squads.
After progressing to the Sharks NYC squad, Holmes again showed he was a cut above the rest pushing himself into Shane Flanagan’s NRL squad by Round 21 of the 2014 season where he made his debut against the Parramatta Eels.
A prolific try scorer in his time at the Sharks, Holmes equalled the Club’s try-scoring record of 19 in 2016 set by Club legend David Peachey which was highlighted by his five try haul against the Newcastle Knights in Round 10.
In 57 matches for the Sharks, Holmes has used his blistering speed and agility to cross the tryline on 38 occasions, making him one of the most explosive players in the competition.
Holmes capped off a stellar 2016 season with selection on the Kangaroos Four Nations Tour to the UK.
Congratulations Valentine on the nomination. Congratulations on a fantastic 2016 season and we look forward to what 2017 has to hold.
