North Queensland Cowboys coach Paul Green says he’s confident his side can overcome the challenge of two bruising finals encounters, heading into next week’s Preliminary Final against the Sharks at Allianz Stadium.

Speaking with the media following his side’s 6-point, extra-time win over the Broncos in Townsville, Green remained coy that his men will be right to go against the Sharks, following on from their week 1 Finals defeat at the hands of the Storm in Melbourne.

“The most important thing after an extra time game), is that most of next week will be about recovery,” Green said.

“(Injured duo Kane Linnett & Antonio Winterstein) won’t be too far away, there’s a big chance that possible both of them will be back.”

Kicking his side into extra time before laying on the eventual match-winning try, Cowboys half Johnathan Thurston paid credit to the work of the defending Premiers, in saying their resilience was on show though down late on in the contest.

“I’m very proud of the boys the way they stayed really composed, considering the way we started the game and the way we came out after half time,” Thurston said.

“I’m extremely proud of the way that everyone reacted.”
