Cockram Construction, a privately-owned multidisciplinary construction services company operating in Australia, Asia, America and New Zealand, has entered into a partnership with our Club which will see them become back of shorts sponsor throughout the 2016 NRL Finals Series.

Cockram Construction founded in 1861, operates with a blue print for success, these values include Safety, Excellence, Determination, Accountability and Leadership.

The company currently boasts 12 office locations in the Asia Pacific Region with an operational capability that includes design and construct, general contracting, construction management, project management and project controls - across a broad range of sectors including sports, leisure and entertainment.

Sharks CEO Lyall Gorman expressed his excitement surrounding the new partnership, especially with such a highly respected organisation and a company which has definitely withstood the test of time.

“Cockram is a highly reputable company with a long and impressive history in the construction industry and we are proud to welcome them into our corporate family,” Gorman said. “This partnership between the Sharks and Cockram has the potential to grow considerably over time but to have them supporting our team in our upcoming finals campaign is a great starting point for both organisations.”

Beginning last Saturday night with the Minor Premiership playoff with the Melbourne Storm, the Cockram ‘C’ appeared on the back of the Sharks NRL playing shorts and is set to remain there for the rest of the 2016 season.

The Sharks and Cockram have worked together previously, with the company then known as Hooker Cockram, responsible for the upgrade of Southern Cross Group Stadium back in 2007-08.

Cockram’s work included the construction of the Southern Grandstand, a structure which provides undercover seating for over 1,400 patrons, along with three entry pavilions with turnstile gates, associated grandstand facilities, toilets, bar, food preparation areas, ticket sales and upgraded entrances.

Roger Ornek, Cockram’s NSW State Manger expressed, “this exciting alliance brings together two well established teams – Cockram, leading the way in all sectors of construction disciplines; and the Sharks, with their fierce competitive spirit and creative vision, not just for Rugby League but the community as a whole.”

In 2011 the company celebrated 150 years of operation.
