Reviews of the Sharks big win over the Knights, previews of Saturday’s blockbuster against the Sea Eagles and plenty of talk and speculation around State of Origin selections dominated the Sharks-related media throughout the week.

The media praised the Sharks efforts up at Hunter Stadium last week, but at the same time were somewhat scathing in their assessment of the Knights performance on the day.

As far as what lies ahead and the Sea Eagles on Saturday, most of the reviews have centred around the great form of the Sharks, but have been countered by their poor record in matches against Manly, with the consensus being a closely-fought contest in likely at Southern Cross Group Stadium this weekend.

Origin is also around the corner, with speculation rife about a number of Sharks players said to be in contention for NSW and Queensland selection. Still on Origin and it caused a stir when former NSW great, now TV host Peter Sterling, suggested Paul Gallen should be overlooked when the selectors sit down to pick the team for game one of the series on June 1.

And in a positive development, the Sharks signed a new commercial partner last week, with the Infinity Group Australia coming on board as back of jersey sponsor.
