Earning Sharks cap number 501 at his debut last weekend, James Maloney spoke to the media on Tuesday as he and the side go about preparing for Round 2's local derby with St. George Illawarra.

Maloney - no stranger to cross-club rivalries - said he's primed and ready for the Dragons clash this weekend, hopeful of scoring a win in front of the Sharks Members and fans.

"I'm looking forward to it, hopefully it's got a bit of feeling in it," he said.

"I always used to love the Roosters (versus) Rabbitohs games, because of that rivalry. It just added that little bit more."

Maloney also spoke of his partnership with Chad Townsend, as well as reactions North of the border after the loss at the Cowboys.
