Cronulla Shark Luke Lewis and his fellow Australian representatives have been put through their paces ahead of Friday's Trans-Tasman test against New Zealand.

Kangaroos fullback Billy Slater has ruled himself out of the clash with an ongoing shoulder concern, with South Sydney number one Greg Inglis set to fill the custodian role.

Slater said despite training with the squad on Tuesday, the injury would still serve to hinder his performance come game day.

"There's still a little bit of pain in there, it is getting better each week," said Slater.

"It just still wasn't up to a standard that I know I've got to be at to play a Test match."
