The Sharks' 2016 band of brothers were back together again this afternoon, catching up to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their historic premiership win.
The club’s legendary drought-breakers reunited at Ocean Protect Stadium to watch the current Cronulla side train and then share some words of wisdom with them.
Local hero and Sharks’ 2016 halfback Chad Townsend said, “It’s a massive game tomorrow as the boys have their last home game of the season."
“We’ll be celebrating 10 years on since that historic Sharks’ 2016 premiership. We’ll all be here for the game, and we can’t wait to see all the fans again.”
Perhaps the greatest Shark of all time and 2016 captain, Paul Gallen, said: “Well, it’s been 10 years since the most magical day in our club’s entire history.”
“What a day it was. What a time it was to be a Shark. I can honestly say it was the most amazing thing I did as a rugby league player.
“It’s Old Boys Day tomorrow, as we get to celebrate all the people that played for the Sharks over the years, so it’d be great to see a packed house to support the old boys and support the current boys playing the Melbourne Storm as well.”
Around 60 Cronulla Old Boys attended the 2026 team’s captain’s run session this afternoon, with around 180 Great White Sharks expected at tomorrow night’s game.
Fans are urged to get there early to honour all the Old Boys as they do a lap of honour at 7:00pm, before kick-off between the Sharks and Storm at 7:35pm.
