After thumping the Knights to notch a third-straight victory, the Jets will test their mettle against the ladder-leading Panthers at Henson Park on Saturday.

Newtown are in fifth place on differential following their 52-12 win on the weekend, with Penrith one point clear on top of the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup table.

While the Panthers have suffered back-to-back losses to the Bulldogs and Warriors, the Jets are hitting their stride after an up-and-down start to the year.

Sharks NRL squad members Billy Burns and Liam Ison, who deputised for injured fullback Kade Dykes, played starring roles in the win over Newcastle.

Two points behind the fourth-placed Bears, another victory will keep Newtown among the leading cluster of teams approaching the halfway mark of the season.
