Late change for NRLW Sharks

Sharks NRLW fullback Jada Taylor will undergo scans to determine the extent of an ankle injury after a training mishap on Friday night.

One of the Sharks best in their round one win over the Raiders, Taylor will miss the game against the Tigers on Sunday with a timeframe for her potential return not yet confirmed.

The loss of Taylor comes on the back of a wrist injury suffered by forward Rhiannon Byers who will miss the remainder of the 2023 season after undergoing surgery to repair the problem.

Byers is a former Australian rugby sevens international who signed on to play for the NRLW Sharks in 2023 after representing the Cronulla club in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership earlier this year, while Taylor, a NSW under-19’s rep, joined the Sharks this year.

It is expected the versatile Andie Robinson, also a member of the NSW under19’s in 2022, will slot in at fullback for the Sharks for Sunday’s game, while In some positive news ahead of the Sharks round two match against the Wests Tigers, middle forward Tegan Dymock has been named to return after missing the opening round clash due to illness.

Holli Wheeler is the Sharks only other long-term injury concern, with the experienced forward progressing well in her recovery from a knee injury and expected to be available in the coming weeks.

The NRLW Sharks play the Wests Tigers tomorrow, kicking off at 1.50pm and following the Knights and Cowboys as the second game of a double header at Belmore Sports Ground.
