Sharks kick off a ‘Classic’ partnership

The Sharks and Classic Sportswear can announce an exclusive partnership, beginning in 2023 and running through until the end of the 2026 NRL season.

The new four-year partnership will see Classic Sportswear become the Exclusive Official Apparel Partner of the Sharks, producing the on-field and off-field apparel requirements for the Sharks NRL, NRLW, Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership, Jersey Flegg, Tarsha Gale, SG Ball and Harold Matthews Cup teams.

Synonymous with Rugby League, established in 1934 and 100% Australian owned, Classic Sportswear has been delivering high-performance sportswear for 88 years and is recognised throughout the sporting industry for its exceptional high-quality products for elite athletes and fans.

In confirming the partnership, Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta was excited to be welcoming such a well-known and respected sporting brand into the Sharks corporate family.

“The Sharks partnering with Classic Sportswear brings together two powerful and iconic Shire based brands, but more importantly we are forming an association with an organisation who are at the top of their game, are highly reputable, with excellent recognition already across the NRL and sporting sector in general,” Mezzatesta said.

“We are very happy to be entering into this partnership and have complete confidence in their ability to provide the highest quality of product and exciting designs that will definitely appeal to our players, members and fans.”

Michael McDonald, General Manager at Classic Sportswear, also welcomed the opportunity to partner with the Cronulla club and to showcase the Classic products to the Sharks players, members and fans.

“The opportunity to partner with the Sharks is an exciting one for everyone at Classic Sportswear. We are proudly based in the Sutherland Shire so the opportunity to enter into a long-term partnership with the NRL club that represents this local area was a natural one for us,” McDonald began.

“The Sharks and Classic Sportswear are part of the fabric of Rugby League and there are great synergies between our two brands that extend past our mutual location, and we are genuinely excited about what the club is building both on and off the field.

“We have enjoyed longstanding relationships in the Shire with junior Rugby League clubs over several decades through our grassroots brand, CSM and to now be able to partner with the Sharks allows us to outfit future stars through to the Sharks elite players at NRL and NRLW level.

“I would like to thank Dino and his team for their vote of confidence in our brand and we look forward to delivering high quality, innovative products using cutting edge technology, designed for ultimate performance, durability and comfort to the Sharks playing group and all members and fans,” McDonald added.

The announcement of Classic as the Sharks new apparel partner brings to an end a long association with Dynasty, with Mezzatesta appreciative of their efforts during the period of their involvement.

“While thrilled to be linking with Classic, we also thank Dynasty for their commitment, support and for the quality of their products as our apparel supplier during our three-year partnership.”

The Sharks will soon unveil the 2023 playing kit, as well as supporter products, designed, manufactured and supplied by Classic.
