Taco Team List Tuesday

Local junior Kade Dykes will make his NRL debut on Saturday, with the local junior to become Shark #554 when he runs out on Saturday for the local derby clash with the Dragons.

A standout in recent weeks for the competition-leading Newtown Jets in the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup, Dykes comes into the Cronulla team in place of the injured Will Kennedy who is expected to miss up to six weeks with an ankle injury.

The rise of Dykes to the NRL has been a rapid one, with the 20-year-old, who has come through the Sharks development system, starting the year in the Sharks under-21 Jersey Flegg team before progressing to the NSW Cup and now the top grade.

His NRL debut will take place on the Sharks ‘Old Boys’ Day in front of a sell-out crowd at PointsBet Stadium, one expected to include his father Adam, a 183-game former Sharks star, as well as grandfather John who represented the club during the 1970’s.

In other team news, Braden Hamlin-Uele has been elevated into the starting side, Royce Hunt after coming from the field with a shoulder problem early in the Rabbitohs game goes back to the extended reserves list, with Braydon Trindall named in jersey 14 on the interchange bench.

Sitting third on the NRL ladder following their one-point win over Souths, the Sharks have the opportunity to consolidate their position inside the top four with a victory over St George Illawarra on Saturday.

The teams also play for the Monty Porter Foundation Memorial Trophy on Saturday, with the Sharks the current holders following their 36-12 win in round 3.
