Two disappointing losses in succession has the Jersey Flegg Sharks desperate to turn around their fortunes and remain in the hunt for a Finals berth when they host Souths in a round 20 clash on Saturday.
To be played as the curtain-raiser to the NRL match featuring the same two teams, the match against Souths shapes as a crucial one for a Sharks team which currently sits in sixth position on the ladder with only five clubs to qualify for the Flegg Finals.
The Sharks were their own worst enemies in a 26-6 loss to the first-placed Roosters last weekend, coming on the back of a 40-6 defeat by the Eels the week prior.
In some good news for the Cronulla team, Ryan Rivett has been selected to return, the team’s regular half back who was missing from the team beaten by the Roosters due to a calf injury.
The Sharks and Rabbitohs have met once already in 2022, the Cronulla side winning 34-22 in a high scoring affair.
The Jersey Flegg fixture is scheduled to get underway at 3.00pm at PointsBet Stadium.
