Due to the current COVID lockdown affecting NSW and specifically in relation to sporting events within the Sydney region and surrounding areas, matches in the Jersey Flegg and Knock-On Effect NSW Cup competitions have again been cancelled for this weekend.
With the improving situation and the expectation of restrictions easing, the NSWRL is planning on resuming both competitions, along with the Harvey Norman’s Women’s Premiership, on the weekend of July 17.
The HNWP Sharks are drawn to play a Grand Final qualifying match against Mounties on Saturday, July 17.
The NSWRL has informed that round 16 and 17 games in their major competitions, including Flegg and NSW Cup, would be deemed ‘COVID draws’ with teams receiving one point from the cancelled matches.
Should health orders allow matches to resume on the weekend of July 17, the competitions will resume with round 18 matches as previously scheduled.
Teams have been allowed to train outdoors, in smaller groups of 10, with full training planned to begin from next Monday in preparation for the resumption of the respective competitions.
Round 18 for the Flegg Sharks is scheduled to be against the Parramatta Eels at PointsBet Stadium on Saturday, July 17, while the next game for the Newtown Jets is set down for the following day, Sunday, July 18, against Mounties at Aubrey Keech Reserve.
Sharks media will communicate any further updates or changes when they become available.
