20 stars for 2021 | Luke Metcalf

NSWRL Pathways prodigy Luke Metcalf returns home to the Cronulla Sharks in 2021 after speaking three years with the Manly Sea Eagles.

Metcalf played all his junior footy with the Sharks before moving to Sydney’s Northern Beaches for what was an interrupted three-year period. He sustained an unfortunate ACL injury in 2019 that kept him out for the year and then COVID-19 stopped him from playing in 2020.

He did, however, shine at the start of this year when he was given an opportunity to play in the NRL Nines. He scored two tries on debut and being named in the team of the tournament.

The Coffs Harbour product is back in the shire for 2021 as one of their six developmental players and will hope to replicate the form he displayed as a junior.

He guided the Sharks to the SG Ball grand final in 2017 where he topped the competition point-scorers’ list, scoring 138 of the Sharks’ 320 regular-season tally.

That year, Metcalf was picked in the NSW Under-18s side and scored a hat-trick in the Blues’ 35-28 victory over Queensland at ANZ Stadium.

He’s transitioned from the halves to fullback in recent years and will look to challenge Will Kennedy for the Sharks’ No.1 jersey in 2021.
