A sideline conversion with the fulltime siren sounding brought the teams level and gave them hope, however a Central Coast Roosters field goal in golden point extra time saw the NSW Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership Sharks lose a heartbreaker in their qualification finals match last weekend.
The Maddi Studdon conversion and Roosters field goal were just some of the highlights of an enthralling contest, won 13-12 by the Central Coast, with the challenge for the Sharks to now regroup ahead of a Grand Final qualifier against the North Sydney Bears on Saturday.
The Bears come into the game on the back of a 16-4 win over the Wests Tigers in their elimination match last Saturday.
For the Sharks, coach Glenn Brailey has selected a largely unchanged line up to the one which went down to the Roosters, although he has named Kiwi international Kiana Takairangi to make her return from injury.
The Sharks and Bears met once during the regular season, the Cronulla girls winning 18-10 in a match played at the Academy Fields at Cronulla High School.
The Sharks v Bears Grand Final qualifier is scheduled for an 1.30pm kick off at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday.
