Late Mail - Sharks v Cowboys

The Sharks have confirmed that Braydon Trindall will start in the halves in today's round 16 clash with the Cowboys due to Shaun Johnson's late withdrawal.

Johnson aggravated a groin injury at training on Wednesday and was unable to complete the captain's run yesterday, ruling him out of today's game.

The Sharks were granted permission to bring Trindall into their 21-man squad after the loss of Johnson and he will play in jersey 23.

The 21-year-old Trindall, who will run out for his third game in the NRL, will partner local junior Connor Tracey in the halves.

While he has been doing a solid job in relieving Blayke Brailey at dummy half and also as a utility option in his appearances in the the top grade this year, Tracey has come through the grades as a half/five eighth and gets his chance to impress in his preferred position.

In another significant change for the Sharks, Andrew Fifita returns after missing six weeks with hamstring and finger issues. Fifita comes into the 17 at the expense of Jack Williams, who along with Bryson Goodwin has been omitted from the 19-man squad as named last night.

In the only other change coach John Morris has reshuffled his starting side, Scott Sorensen moves into the run on side, with Toby Rudolf on the interchange bench.

The Sharks v Cowboys match gets underway at 5.30pm at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
