It was a disappointing afternoon for the Sharks, soundly beaten by the Panthers on Saturday.
With a mountain of possession going against them, the Sharks struggled to hold the Panthers out in the first half and then after a mini revival shortly before half time, injuries and disruptions to their backline saw the Penrith side run riot late in the contest.
Despite the heavy defeat, there were some individuals to give a strong account of themselves and while the defence was below standard, some impressive work in attack resulted in four Sharks tries on the day.
Shaun Johnson added to his NRL leading try assist tally with a perfectly weighted pass for Briton Nikora to score, Blayke Brailey showed strength and determination to crash over on the stroke of half time, then in the second period Jesse Ramien stepped back inside to grab a consolation four-pointer for his side.
Then there was the Nene Macdonald intercept, the big outside back streaking away for a try in his first game back in the NRL after over 12 months out of the game.
