Round 6 Man of the Match

While far from perfect, the Sharks came away from their clash with the Bulldogs at Bankwest with the two competition points and a level of confidence that they hope to take to the Central Coast when they play Manly this weekend.

It was a victory hard earned, but there was plenty to like about some aspects of the Sharks performance, especially from a number of individuals who left a considerable imprint on the game.

Winger Sione Katoa scored three tries on the night, two of those spectacular efforts and fittingly he was judged by you the fans as Man of the Match following our round 6 Fan Vote Poll.

Katoa polled 43 per cent of the vote, ahead of another strong contributor in Josh Dugan who was strong in the centres before slotting into fullback on occasion in playing a leading role in the Sharks victory.

Dugan collected 20 per cent of the vote to claim two points in the Fan Poll Player of the Year standings, with Shaun Johnson with 12 per cent claiming one point for his two try assist night.

Johnson delivered the cut-out pass for Katoa’s second try of the game, as well as the kick which saw the Sharks right winger grab his third. His two try assists makes it eight for the year and sees Johnson sit atop the NRL in that statistical category through the first six rounds of the 2020 season.

Johnson edged out Aaron Woods for the Player of the Year one point, with the Sharks prop topping his teams run metres on the night.

With the three points as Man of the Match Katoa sits behind just Johnson and Dugan in the Sharks Fan Poll Player of the Year race.
