Sharks skipper Paul Gallen has undergone scans on the shoulder he injured in last night's game against the Panthers however a result on his status for his teams' preliminary final may not be known until later in the week.
The scans have shown there is no fracture in the shoulder as was first feared, however there is some ligament damage.
"There is no fracture but we won't know too much until we see how it responds to treatment and how it settles down early in the week," Sharks coach Shane Flanagan said.
Gallen left the field midway through the second half and failed to return to the field.
In other Sharks injury news, the reports on Luke Lewis were more positive, the back rower suffering a cork to his calf and he is hopeful of being fit to take his place in the team to play the Storm next Friday night.
