Ahead of this weekend's Auckland Nines, we look back to the 2015 instalment to where now-NRL sensation Valentine Holmes first made his name be known.

Despite earning a First Grade debut in the latter stages of the 2014 regular season, Holmes caught the eye of the collective NRL world when snapping a last-gasp drop goal to keep the Sharks' 2015 Nines title hopes alive.

Holmes would go on to play in 25 NRL matches that season, cementing himself as a genuine star in the process.
