Heading into this weekend’s match on the back of 10-consecutive wins, Canberra Captain Jarrod Croker knows that now stands for little; as his Raiders and the Sharks look to cement a place in an NRL Preliminary Final.
Speaking of his side’s most recent clash with the Sharks – that of a Round 22, 30-14 win at Southern Cross Group Stadium – the 25-year-old said the big Raiders pack must aim up again.
“They’re tough, and they’re physical,” Croker said.
“We’re not reading too much in to (Round 22), we’re just looking forward, we’ve just got to control what we can and match them up the middle.”
Deemed the competition’s surprise packets prior to the Finals, Croker said he’ll be urging his men to carry on, though now in a ‘new competition’.
“Not many people would have expected us to have finished second at the end of the regular season. “We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved,” Croker said.
“For us now, it’s a whole new ball game. Whether we finished first or eighth (after 26 Rounds), it’s Finals footy. It’s very exciting.”
