While it might be described as one that got away, with the Sharks having a couple of late chances to beat the competition leaders the Panthers last Sunday afternoon, when all things are considered a 34-all draw against a team five points clear at the top of the ladder and on a 14 game winning streak, rates as a strong performance.
Coming on the back of a dominant win over the second-placed Parramatta Eels the week before and the NYC Sharks head into Monday night’s match against the Roosters full of confidence.
The Sharks came within a whisker of upsetting the Penrith side and with three players called into the Newtown Jets team due to injury and Origin duty affecting the NRL squad, the effort was an extremely meritorious one.
This Monday however another challenge awaits against a highly rated opponent, with the Sharks currently fifth and just one point ahead of the Roosters on the NYC table.
This week the Sharks welcome back the three who were sent to the Jets last weekend, with Ash Nisbet, Lachlan Stein and Jaimin Jolliffe named to return to the NYC team.
The Sharks v Roosters NYC match is scheduled for a 4.45pm kick off at Allianz Stadium on Monday night.
