A mid-season injury crisis, coupled with the fact the Sharks have five players in the NSW Origin side and have therefore called up some Newtown regulars, means the Jets will field an inexperienced line-up when they host the Wyong Roos tomorrow (Saturday).

On the back of a two game losing streak, one which came following two of the Jets biggest and most convincing wins of the season, the Newtown side will be keen to return to winning form and display they have enough depth to be contenders in the Intrust Super Premiership in 2016.

The match, which is scheduled for the Jets traditional home of Henson Park on Saturday, provides a chance for them to consolidate their place inside the top four with seven games remaining.

While a number of Sharks players are either unavailable through injury or have been called into the NRL team to play the Panthers, the Cronulla-club will still be represented by fullback and captain Mitch Brown, centre Jordan Drew and back rower Anthony Moraitis.

Also added to the Newtown team to bolster their side this weekend will be three of the Sharks promising NYC squad members in Lachlan Stein, Ash Nisbet and Jaimin Jolliffe.

Cometh the hour, cometh the men ….

This might be a slight tweaking of the old saying, but it is definitely applicable to Newtown’s Round 18 ISP NSW match against the Wyong Roos at Henson Park on Saturday, 9th July.

Newtown is confronted with the usual run of mid-winter injuries, plus our NRL partners the Cronulla Sharks have five representatives in the upcoming State of Origin III next Wednesday night at ANZ Stadium.

Long-time Jets fans will remember many occasions over the years when the odds have been well and truly stacked against their team, but the boys in the Royal Blue jerseys have responded to adversity in splendid fashion.

We call on Jets fans to get along to Henson Park in big numbers on Saturday and give our boys all the support you can muster.
