Sharks hooker Michael Ennis spoke to the media on Friday morning ahead of the side's trip to Townsville to face reigning NRL champs, the North Queensland Cowboys.

On the eve of the Round 1 clash, Ennis said he and the side are ready for the parochial home crowd that awaits them.

"Any time you play in Townsville, it's always a good experience. They really support their team, it's always a big crowd in," Ennis said.

"On the back of a disappointing loss up there in the Semi Final, there's no better time to go back there. I know the boys are really looking forward to it."

Ennis also spoke of Ben Barba's return to fullback, the Club's premiership credentials and the role that Jack Bird will play in 2016.
